VA Chapter’s David Humphrey elected IAEI Southern Section President

I am deeply honored to have the opportunity to  serve my IAEI family as your Southern Section President in the coming year.  I first joined IAEI in 1989 and quickly realized this organization and its people are truly something special.

Before joining IAEI I worked for 10 years as a field electrician and obtained my journeyman and master electrician's certification which I still hold. I became an Electrical Inspector for Henrico County, VA in 1988, and was promoted to the Senior Inspector in 1995. I was promoted again to my current position of Electrical Plan Review Engineer in 2005.

I have been married to my wife, Nancy, for 21 years and have a son, Nathan, in his third year of college and a daughter, Elissa, in her first year of college.

I have been fortunate to have served the Virginia Chapter IAEI as President in 2003-2004 and as the Secretary/ Treasurer from 2009-2016. I currently serve as a member of ANSI C-80, and the NCPCCI electrical certification test development committee. I have represented IAEI as a principle member of CMP 8 for the 2008 and 2011 code cycles and as the Chair of CMP 9 for the 2014 and 2017 cycles. I also serve as an instructor for the International Office, and as a member of the 1/0 Strategic Planning Committee. I have been privileged to serve on the Board of Directors of the Southern Section for the last 10 years, 7 of those as the Chairman of the Board of Directors.

I greatly look forward to visiting the terrific Chapters and Divisions that make up the Southern Section over the next year and working with you to make the Southern Section of IAEI better than ever.
